A Night out on the town
Bed and Breakfast
I wanted to plan an escape to a place that offers relaxing drives and beautiful scenery during the day and that has plenty to do at night on the weekend. I was searching for an historic quaint bed and breakfast when I came across the Historic Mansion in a small town nestled in the mountains called Pikeville. It was the perfect place for a chance for Rick and I to get away from our hectic schedules.
Art & Music
Main Street Live
Our Friday evening in Pikeville began at the award winning Blue Raven Restaurant and Pub which featured local farm fresh food by the hometown chef. What a great way to begin our night out! The food was amazing and we loved the location it is just a couple of minutes to Main Street Live! The town’s best free outdoor entertainment. We hung out all evening listening to awesome bands and danced until after dark. We met some other travelers that have made this their “must do” summer thing. They said the best getaways are always in a small town and also there’s something awesome about watching the sun go down over the mountains during a night on the town. Who would have thought mountains and nightlife make the perfect combination! After the music we headed down the street to Hilton Garden Bar & Grille for a taste of craft drinks featuring bourbons from across Kentucky. Our hotel was just a block away next to the park so the walk back made the night complete.
The next day!
I strolled around town shopping and found a shop that featured local handmade items where I signed up for an afternoon art class while my husband checked out Muscle on Main, a classic car cruise-in, the drag races and other things to do. Rick discovered the Jenny Wiley Theater, a great place to for an evening show by local actors and performers. After the show we headed to the Bank 253 Restaurant & Nightlife for live music and entertainment where we met our new friends from the night before. We loved our weekend of nightlife in the mountains…let Pikeville show you a good time!~Kathy & JohnChicago, Illinois
